Because I want to BUY IT ALL!!!

Only linked because they describe it as first in the series, and I own five that came before it. Ha.

Also why it's a good thing that San Francisco Music Box Co. doesn't exist in malls I frequent...
The ballet!!! I want the rotating music box POTO ballerinas!!!

More whimpering...

*whines* I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant!

Well, one more, but not POTO...

What I really really REALLY want for Christmas...only in English.

What was I doing on eBay? Buying Dan's present, of course! >-)

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Wednesday on a flight to Pakistan, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). In March I stole [ profile] snowowl's purse (-30 points). In September I set [ profile] bacchant's puppy on fire (-66 points). Last Sunday I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). Last week I helped [ profile] wheezinggirl see the light (8 points).

Overall, I've been nice (198 points). For Christmas I deserve a Nintendo Wii!

This meme completely wins this year...

On the twelfth day of Christmas, littlelotte sent to me...
Twelve memories drumming
Eleven reptiles writing
Ten democrats a-directing
Nine books acting
Eight restaurants a-serving
Seven coffeeshops a-travelling
Six liberals a-reading
Five blu-u-u-ue roses
Four sunflower seeds
Three fairy tales
Two leopard geckos
...and a ravenclaw in a gender archaeology.

I saw the Twilight movie. I was actually hoping they could somehow improve upon the book by making an attractive movie. It looked like a shoestring budget, PLUS they somehow managed to make the dialogue and story even more obnoxious and brain-numbing than the book did.

Boo, movie-makers. Boo.

Also, because no movie like this is complete without it, [ profile] cleolinda's Movies in 15 Minutes version...

Well, after midnight here, but still three hours to go for him...

Happy 27th Birthday,

For one of the closest few to my heart, I hope your birthday is all you want it to be and more. *****hugs*****

I am unbelievably amazed and thrilled right now. Of course I voted today, and all the important things (to me) won! I voted Obama. I voted Yes on both Propositions (though I don't have any strong opinions one way or the other about medical marijuana--Prop 1--I think it's reasonable and I will certainly support it; I was OVERWHELMINGLY supportive of Prop 2--concerning new allowances of stem cell research and use), and he won and both propositions passed. I really don't care much about the millage we had on my ballot. I voted for it--of course I'm supportive of a millage to help public transportation--but the public transportation association here really needs to get a grip on what is reasonable to contribute to random bs and what isn't.

So...I'm amazed. I'm rather ecstatic. I'm very impatient for January to arrive :-)

Oh...and I'm getting sick *growls*

The new international trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! All new scenes! I nearly fell out of my chair at the end scene..."But I am 'The Chosen One' *smack* Ow!, kidding." And a Won-Won/Lav-Lav kiss! ROFL! David Yates, I adore you and the people who decided you were the right director for the final four films (yes, four...5, 6, 7 part one, and 7 part two).

This is going to be WONDERFUL! I reallyreallyreally can't wait until July. Oh well, at least I have a new book in a series I'm reading out tomorrow, and the Twilight movie in just under a month.

...I am such an unbelievable dork.

Went to Beluga in Hyde Park with the MP here tonight. AMAZING!

Bought two pieces for my Ravenclaw uniform tonight--a Prefect badge and a sweater. They should be delivered in time for me to wear to work Halloween.

Dan paid for and picked up our rings today! One more big piece DONE! They're just very very simple, plain, white gold Comfort Fit bands.

Now it's bedtime.

Meme 2 )

Also, we picked out our rings this week"end" ( was four days off for me, so it is equivalent to my weekend even though it was the middle of the week!).

I had oysters on the half shell, sushi, and Hendricks tonight (and a very interesting and amazing mushroom truffle butter) at The Waterfront in Covington. It failed to impress me last year, but I gave it a second chance because I really wanted raw oysters, and it was wonderful. The above combination makes me blissful, and the great service made it even more wonderful. heeee...

When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.

"Mawwage...that bwessed awwangement...and wuv--twue wuv--will fowwow you fowevew..."

hehehehehehe...and, of course, "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. 'twould be a pity to damage yours."

Twilight silliness--real city of Forks getting a nice and needed tourist boost from the series and film:

The eldest Duggar child is getting married in two days. ha. Why are so many people on my f'list (yes, me included) so interested in this family?

CONGRATULATIONS to Dana ([ profile] chasmine17) and Rob! She had her baby!!! Lissa texted me with the news and a photo. heee!

And, finally, a Friday Five from last week just because I liked the questions...

1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
It's really more of "what DIDN'T Lindsay want to be when she was a kid?" The more notable things I wanted to do were actress, prima ballerina, writer, teacher, psychologist, singer...

2. What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
umm...I'm exceedingly proud of the fact that I'm doing well in my current chosen career path :-) I work damn hard at it and for it, but I'm pleased.

3. What is your dream job?
There are a few things I would love to do. One of them fits with what I'm doing right now--I'd love to open my own restaurant. Really what I'd like to do is be independantly wealthy so that I can travel the world and work at doing any sort of project I feel like at any given time.

4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
No idea, and I really don't care right now. I know I'll be where I need to be. According to the lady that read my palm over New Years, that's right around when I'll have hit my stride for whatever I really decide to do. I do what I feel I need to do at any given time. I like to plan a bit, but life's not interesting if you don't let yourself take things as they come.

5. What does it take to make you happy?
To be doing anything I enjoy. Reading, sometimes working, spending time doing absolutely nothing with Dan or friends, etc.
littlelotte: (Ravenclaw)
So...I got some Ravenclaw patches last December, and I finally put one on my tie...hehehe...

I know the movie won't be out until July, but I want to have some level of completion on my Ravenclaw uniform soon just in case they decide to do some sort of special release for the Tales of Beedle the Bard book in December.

Other than that, nothing special has been happening in my life. I've been working obscenely much, even at home, and spent a few hours on both my days off at the restaurant this week. I'm nearly done with all the training stuff, and will be having a trainer meeting next week before I leave for Cincy. After that, I have a couple of smaller things I want to put together for work while I'm out of town, and then I think I'll be pretty happy with where everything's headed.

A little random, but on my mind recently. A lot of restaurant jobs look for people with at least two years experience in the position they are hiring for. After nearly six years in the business it makes complete sense to me. It took me around two or three solid years to feel truly comfortable as a server. I'm starting to round in on two years in management, and I finally am feeling like I've gotten my feet under me, for the most part. It's a nice feeling. I've worked extremely hard, but I really feel that it's all been worth it. Mind you, I'm nowhere near finished with the hard work part of it--I still have a lot to do--but I'm so much more comfortable with how to do things and how to go about things.

I also realized how brilliant OSI's benefits plan is. After one year with the company you get one week of paid vacation. Every six months after that you get one more week. Once you hit five years with the company you get one week paid vacation every three months. After five years I can see one being exceptionally sick of everything, but when you get a paid vacation every three months, how can you really care? Final vacation in year four and six months of hell. Vacation heaven. Six weeks later you're ready to throttle everybody again, but who cares? In six more weeks you get another week of relief! It's brilliant!

Okay, I have things to do before work, but I wanted to say hello. Hope all is going well with you, f'list!

Posting from my BlackBerry! Dan's sick, so no cookout today :-( Ah well. The flu is evil.

Worked today even though it was my day off, and now I'm reading a bit before I write my schedule. So much to do for work before I go to Cincinnati in October.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Not much to say, really. Nothing special happening in my life at the moment. My parents are coming to visit in a couple of weeks, though, and they're bringing my gecko :-D I'm very happy that I will finally have Anna back It's been about a year now since she's been mine :-(

We put the new bookcase together today, finally! Well, mostly I put it together ;-) Dan tells me I'm definitely my father's daughter because I'm apparently "handy." I thought he was being facetious because I'm so home-repair/tool ignorant (in fact, my relatives who read this are probably laughing hysterically reading about the likelihood of me being "handy"), but he was completely serious. Granted, I'm far better at hammering a nail into anything than I once was, and I'm actually not horrible (though not amazing by any stretch) at putting sauderwood furniture together ;-) Anyway, now we can finally get rid of some more boxes. Ha. We have too many books between the two of us. Well, can one ever really have too many books? I think I'll only ever say yes when I'm in the process of boxing them up to move. Books are the easiest thing to pack, though, at least. I think we have more boxes of books than we do anything else.

Also, with the new bookcase I finally got to unpack my Phantom snowglobes and such. One of my San Francisco Music Box Company POTO snowglobes is broken! I was heartbroken. It's my favorite one because it pictures the Phantom with his skull staff during the Wandering Child scene (obviously my favorite scene--in the show and in the story, I do believe. There's something so innocent and sweet and heartbreaking and seductive about it). The water is nearly gone (though it didn't seem to leak and there aren't any cracks) and the figure is at an odd angle in the globe.

I really need to take photos of the apartment now that we've got the apartment pretty much put together. We still don't have it all together, but we're leaps and bounds closer than we were a month ago.

Obviously, my life is far from exciting at the moment ;-) Oh! I should preface the following for my mom: you probably don't want to read this, Mom O:-)

More fun ghosty stuff! You may or may not remember the previous entry where I discussed why I think there is a ghost or something in the apartment. Dan hateshateshates to believe in these things after the silly, fluffy neo-pagan phases we went through at one point, but even he is forced to admit that there is something very odd in our apartment. Last night our cat was running and jumping around as usual (she was playing with a toy), and the bathroom door SLAMMED shut on her when she was about to go into the bathroom. Dan actually saw it slam shut (we were in the kitchen). Now, the bathroom door opens into the bathroom, so whatever caused the slam had to be actually in the bathroom, and the window was completely shut (Dan flipped out and checked it a little later once he wasn't freaking out quite so much), so it wasn't a wind from outside.

He's rather freaking out about it because he's never actually lived in a place with activity like this. I'm used to silly little tricky things from the ghost we're certain lives in my parents' house, so it doesn't bother me. I don't feel terrified like I always did when I was anywhere by myself in Jeremy's grandparents' house, and I don't even feel as much presence (for as little as there really was) as I did in my parents' house, so I don't worry about it. I don't even really feel much of a presence at all, and given how sensitive I've always been to those things I take that as meaning it's very benign and I don't need to worry about anything. Which I don't. I'm trying to convince him not to worry, either, and to not talk about it while we're in the house so he doesn't end up stirring more stuff up. This may sound crazy if you don't believe in these things, but I try to make it very clear to whatever these things are (anywhere I might be) that I've never seen anything and that I really really REALLY don't want to see anything while acknowledging that I believe its presence and that I have no problems with it so long as I continue to not see and not be scared of it. I'm debating whether or not we should bring the situation up to the owner and her boyfriend (both of whom have lived/worked in the space) and see if they have any stories or any knowledge of who/what it may be. I get the feeling that they aren't skeptical about these sorts of things, so maybe.

Okay, I think it's just about time to head out now. I hope you all have a good night/good day, depending on when you read this!
littlelotte: (OR)
Just checking in, though not much to say. I've been extremely busy with work, and we don't have internet at the apartment right now, so my check-ins are few and far between. Basically, we've been watching lots of movies and TV series when we have the spare time at home. I just updated the Netflix queue a bit :-D Hope all is going well with you, f'list!

I think I may have found my wedding dress. It is from the Venus Bridals Pallas Athena line...go figure, right? ;-) I didn't even know the brand/line until after I tried it on and thought to myself, "Oh my god, I think this might be it." Dress number two in my eyes was tried on before that one and is also from the same line. Ha.

Full length

Next is reception venue/caterers, and it's going to make me tear my hair out, I do believe.

Okay, off to get a late lunch/early dinner with Dan. Have a lovely evening, all!

Thank you f'list. I haven't been online in over a week, but reading through my f'list has made me want to smash my poor computer twice...but then I realized that it's my wonderful computer and I would hate myself and my debt if I did indeed decide to smash the moniter in.

One: a post from [ profile] cyouintea regarding places blocking women from receiving birth control. I hate interfering government!
Two: a post from [ profile] realcdaae regarding the POTO musical sequel. Damn you ALW! DAMN YOU!!!

One more post to come once I finish catching up.

Wheeeeeee! We're going to Bonefish Grill for my birthday tonight! Yay!

Also, the bridal/evening gown shop downtown is having a summer sample sale--sample dresses up to half off. I'm going to have to check that out probably tomorrow.
