When Dan and I went and saw Narnia I noticed a stand-up for a new movie and had to do a double-take. "Are you
kidding me?!?!?
Tristan and Isolde?!" was the first thing out of my mouth. Dan looked at the stand-up and said, "That doesn't look like a Wagner opera to me."
Leave it to Dan :-P I knew it first as a story often mentioned around the Arthurian set (I've been into Arthurian legends since I was 11). When I saw "Before there was Romeo and Juliet..." I wasn't sure whether to be thrilled at the prospect of the Tristan and Isolde story on screen or terrified that they were going to entirely slaughter it. I got to see the trailer when I saw
Memoirs of a Geisha, and they may still entirely slaughter it, but I'm too excited to care (and it's Ridley Scott, so it's probably going to be too attractive for me to care too much). Unfortunately, it opens the day I leave the state :-( I can tell right now that Sophia Myles is going to be my next female celebrity crush...because I'm not already madly in love with Scarlett Johannsen or Keira Knightly or anything...
Here's the site, with the trailer:
