hmmm..

Things Lindsay Should Do While Stuck in a Hotel in Lansing for a Week:
-Update website?
-Finish If on a winter's night a traveler
-ummm...I don't know. Of course, the first thing on the list could take years itself.

In other news, I have tomorrow off, and then I'm in Lansing until Sunday evening.

[livejournal.com profile] surlenil and I saw Golden Compass tonight. Yay!...and Boo! We both whimpered and looked at each other with terrified looks on our faces at the end when Lyra was reading the alethiometer and confidently told Roger "I'm bringing him what he needs." No, Lyra! He doesn't want the alethiometer! Keep Roger far away from him! *whines* But, as I said to Amanda, without that whole fiasco there wouldn't be Cittegazze, and without Cittegazze there wouldn't be Will and Lyra. *pouts* Will and Lyra *lip twitches and quivers* Phillip Pullman is an evil evil man and I love the abuse and sit here starving for more. Amanda said she now wanted to reread the books. I told her not to because otherwise she'll just be depressed for a week. The movie people are a little bit more compassionate, it seems, than Phillip Pullman is...they decided to leave the first traumatic character death until the next movie. Of course, now they'll have to do multiple traumatic character deaths in one movie...and one right at the beginning! Boo! Also, I nearly had a heart attack when Billy Costa called his daemon "Ratter." All I could think was "No!!! Billy doesn't have Ratter! Billy can't be the poor daemonless child in the north! It's not faaaaaaaaaaair!!!"

Also, the movie went too quickly. It needs to be HP-length 2:45 or something.

Amusing meme...

From Dana...

1) Go to the Wikipedia home page and click "random article" (in the menu on the left). That is your band's name.
2) Click random article again; that is your album name.
3)Click random article 15 more times; those are the tracks on your album.

Band Name: Stanley: The Search for Dr. Livingston
Album Name:

You know what...I think the first article worked for both. So I'm going with that as Band Name: Album Title

Track Listing:
1. The Siren (sculpture)
2. Jersey Sky Blue
3. Herder
4. Pemberton Mill
5. Finlayson Township, Minnesota (apparently this album takes a page from Sufjan Stevens)
6. Scottish Railway Preservation Society (that sounds like a Dar Williams song)
7. Farinelli
8. Vidal Colmenares
9. White meat
10. Raft (novel)
11. Monfero
12. Inside of Me
13. Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up
14. Techmospheric
15. Willoughby, Ohio (again with the Sufjan)

And...because I like to be difficult...I think I want to end with a secret bonus track!

16. Catullus 101

Reposting...

I posted this pre-reading the books/pre-movie, but since a handful on my list have since read the books/seen the movie I thought it an appropriate time to repost my daemon. You can't rate my daemon, as I allowed that when I first posted it and now it has settled. ALSO: if you have seen the movie and intend to jump straight to the second book (or know someone wanting to), DON'T! The first movie leaves out at least two ultra-crucial points from the first book (okay, so it leaves out more than that that would leave you lost within the books, but I mean a necessary bridge--literally, ha--between the books), and you'd be horribly lost starting the second book without reading the first.

Speaking of settling daemons...did anybody else notice that Pan spent more time as what I assume his final shape must look like than he did as the ferret that he constantly is in the first couple books? That's not the kind of foreshadowing we need right now :-(

Also...speaking of Pan..."She's not the only one leaving that part of her behind. It just so happens that it's her bad luck she can see and talk to hers" (bad misquote of one of the most horrible scenes of the series).
