littlelotte: (Anna Livia)
I came home from work tonight and went in to check on her, and she's finally wandering around her new aquarium and making herself at home in it :-D She's also eaten more this evening than she's probably eaten in three days (which isn't necessarily saying much...she's hardly eaten since she moved, but she's starting to again). When I walked into the room she's in, this is what I saw--and ran right back out to grab my camera:

Anna lounging on top of her new mealworm bowl (with a top lip on it so the stupid things can't get out and burrow under her substrate anymore):

Just two more... )

You know...my last teacher is not supposed to make it EASIER for me to slack off in class and still do okay. This is our new grading scale--because he "knows his class is harder than the classes the grad students teach, and so his scale should reflect that difference in difficulty." Now we're using the University of Toronto's grading scale:

A 85-100%
BA 77-84%
B 73-76%
CB 67-72%
C 63-66%
DC 57-62%
D 50-56%
E 0-49%

Wow...

For those of you up on Harry Potter news, a couple of copies of the new book were stolen (all are printed and ready to be shipped out now). Two Sun reporters were caught trying to buy them. This is from http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org last week:

In a manner which Rita Skeeter would no doubt be proud, the reporter from The Sun describes his adventure:

"I looked down the barrel of a gun - and thought I was about to die for the sake of Harry Potter," he writes in The Sun today. "For two horrific minutes I pleaded with the gunman not to shoot. Then he fired over my shoulder and into the air. I headed straight for my car and drove off, still shaking, leaving the two men with Harry Potter's secrets."

This reminds me that I should call the K'zoo B&N and see if they're having one:

They are! hmmm...I wonder if I'll be working that evening...

*giggles* Also: I remember the Omniplex from when I lived in Oklahoma...it was this really awesome hands-on science museum. I adored trips to the Omniplex with OM and for other school fieldtrips:

You are especially useful to me here if you understand tarot symbology AND are a Phantom phan/fan.

I started creating a Phantom of the Opera tarot YEARS ago--as in while I was still in high school years ago. These have been the so-far results. I never really got it too far off the ground because I've known no one who could really do the images for it. The ones with a * next to them are for-sures unless a better idea comes along, and the one's with a ? are really really really up in the air.

Edit: The scene/symbol must fit with the meaning of the card. *goes to drag up card info* http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/

0 - The Fool - Raoul (from Kay, obviously--relating to his journey in Kay)
1 - The Magician - Erik
2 - High Priestess - Christine
3 - Empress - Luciana...Giovanni's daughter?
4 - Emperor - Papa DaaƩ?
*5 - Heirophant/Guide - Nadir/Persian
*6 - Lovers - Madeline and Charles
*7 - Chariot - Erik's Boat
8 - Strength - Erik's ring?/The mask?
9 - Hermit -
*10 - Wheel of Fortune - The Chandelier
*11 - Justice - The Punjab Lasso
*12 - Hanged Man - Buquet
*13 - Death - Erik as Red Death
14 - Temperence - Marie Perrault? The violin? Belladova? Giovanni?
*15 - The Deceiver/Devil - Javert
*16 - The Tower - Apollo's Lyre
17 - The Star - Erik's ring? (yes this is above in strength, too...don't know which)/the mask/?
*18 - The Moon - mausoleum scene (aka Wandering Child)
19 - The Sun - Charles Jr.?
20 - Judgement - Torture Chamber? Scorpion/Grasshopper?
21 - The Universe - Monkey music box? The opera house?

Other ideas if anyone can fit them in anywhere...the red scarf, the staircase, Box 5, Erik's organ, the mirror...I'm open to any and all suggestions...lol Other ideas I'd thrown around before were Carlotta/Piangi as Emperor and Empress or Meg as Empress (think Leroux)

As for suits...spiders, I think...perhaps for pentacles? Or just have spiders in the eights of all the suits... His skull cane from the mausoleum scene perhaps for wands (or the rat-catcher's fire pole--both work as the "fire" wand element)? Cups...no idea--just cups as Aminta drinking from the cup in the Point of No Return scene? Swords...at a loss. Completely. Knives just, maybe? Didn't he kill Javert with a knife stab?

A few comments are on the entry on my old journal here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/athenaeriu/251405.html

hmmm...some personal new thoughts: maybe the mask as the devil/deception. It still works under strength, though, too (especially in relation to ALW's show...he leaves, and the mask remains). I really like an off-hand comment I made about Erik at the organ as the hermit...or maybe move Papa DaaƩ to the role of hermit. And, Alley--Charles Jr. would be the PERFECT Sun... http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/maj19.html Keep Marie as Temperance especially in mind when you read it...

For the record...I'm pretty pleased with how solid a lot of these are.
