Christine posted a file of Nina Simone (whom I love) singing Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair, and it reminded me of a Prairie Home Companion show I caught a couple of summers ago on which a young(ish--teenager) girl sings traditional Appalachian-style music. The girl (Elizabeth LaPrelle) sang that song, and I absolutely fell in love. I don't particularly recommend it if you're not a fan of the style, but it's so beautiful (call me crazy, I do enjoy Appalachian singing...it's so unique and has a very individual beauty)...
