"Hippy chimps"?

The above is an article on the nearing-extinct bonobos...apes infamous for their use of sex as a social tool. I love how the article quotes somebody saying that bonobos are "an icon for peace and love" (they use sex rather than violence to resolve issues). I think "promiscuous" is a better word for it. Bonobo mothers initiate their own sons into the ways and even use it in a way similar to us shaking hands or hugging upon saying hello.

Just an amusing piece of randomness for the afternoon...

That's sad... I didn't realize quite how endangered they were. I find it really sick the things we'll do to even our closest animal relatives.
