Okay...update on my day before I go to bed.
I went into the Brewery to "officially" turn in my aprons and hopefully run into some of my favourite people...which I definitely did :-) I got there and the managers were in a meeting, so I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink and hope they were out before I finished. Shortly after I got my drink, Josh (one of the managers) came and sat down and gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, and asked me if I was there to come back for the summer. I told him no and explained why not, and we sat there talking for a while. He was thrilled to find out my drink of choice is gin and tonic (he's actually the reason I first tried Bombay Sapphire), and told me about this new gin he convinced them to get: Hendricks. It has a cucumber finish to it, and instead of being garnished with a lime it's garnished with cucumber! He had the girl working behind the bar (new since December) make one for me to try. It was really great--it tastes like gin but at the same time doesn't--and I got a free drink out of it *laughs* He also finally admitted to me what I and everybody else working there already knew about: his crush on me. Actually...Amanda...I think he'd be absolutely perfect for you if you were around the area. If I weren't so liberal and already in a relationship, he's definitely somebody I could fall for. I ran into so many people I worked with! Cara and Kyle and Stacey and Kristina and Courtney and Nina and Renee and so many others! I ended up hanging out there for a couple of hours. Kyle and Stacey told me I had to come back later on to hang out with them, so I went back in at about 8 with my brother Josh in tow (I convinced him to fill out an application to be a Server Assistant...it's such a great environment and so much better than other first jobs he can apply for). He left shortly after filling it out and talking to one of the managers (Mike).
I got to hear everything happening within the Brewery--I missed some pretty crazy stuff since I left in December! Everybody kept asking me if I was coming back and a lot of them seemed pretty sad when I explained why I wasn't. I heard some promising stuff from Jamie, though, about the place I'm about to start at, so now I'm even more excited about it.
This turned into such a great visit, and it made me very homesick for working at the Brewery. The kind of camraderie that most of the servers have there is so unique in that type of environment, and it really makes for a great place to work and great memories after the fact. I hope I can find even a little bit of that at the new place :-)
