Icon meme...

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.
I only have 44 out of 107 possible icons...so every fifth.

I love The Last Unicorn...it's one of the first videos I remember watching. I would watch it over and over again.
surlenil made the icon for me, I think before we even met.

This is a Lost in Translation icon. This is my favorite movie of all time, and I so often have those "I just don't know..." feelings. Sometimes I feel like I'm exactly where I need/am supposed to be, but then there are times where I'm just not sure of it. Also, the facial expression is dead on for when I feel like that. I made the icon.

I get really depressed and really crazy in the winter. The neverending cold and blizzards and no sunlight just make my normal depression a thousand times worse. The lyrics are Loreena McKennit from a song of the same title. I made the icon.

This is from a photo of POE, one of my favorite musical artists. I was actually introduced to her by a guy that lived on the fifth floor in the hall attached to mine my freshman year who fell head-over-heels for me, but that was my Jeremy-rebound (I still feel soooooooo bad for that...especially because he was actually really good-looking and really really sweet...I signed on to an old AIM name two years after the fact and he IMed me within a minute...for those of you that knew Davis Hall Jeff, he was very similar in looks and attitude...and had the same first name. It freaked me out for about ten minutes after I first met Davis Hall Jeff because I thought it was him at first...though because of said AIM incident I had just talked to him months previous and knew he was living off-campus). Anyway, her songwriting hit a very close chord in me, and the expression in this photo just fit exactly what I was looking for in an icon one night--so I made it. It's exactly what I'm feeling when I'm having a "numb" or blank spell.

Anna Livia! My leopard gecko! I heart Anna. Dan has an obsession with Joycean females, and Anna Livia is from finnigans wake. Our cat is Molly Bloom from Ulysses.

I am in love with Adrian Lyne's version of Lolita. I love the novel, too. One thing people tell me is that there is a part of me that is always a little girl...which is funny to me, because when I was young I was always told how I was just a little adult. Anyway...I thought it fitting. Again, as with most of my icons, I made it. I really could do with a revamped version of it, though.

My other Lost in Translation icon. It's from the end of the movie, and it's perfect for those times where I realize all isn't hopeless in life, or for those times where I hit an especially bright patch after coming out of a bad funk. When people ask me, "Are you okay?" and I reply, "No...but I will be..." this is the time I hit the okay part.

No real reason for this. I thought it was cute, and I own a pair of cat ears like that from Halloween a few years ago. Lindsay Jo is what my parents like to call me either ultra-casually, or when they're especially frustrated with me.
And my final icon, just 'cause...

I heart Scarlett Johansson so so much. I also love Woody Allen films. This combines two great loves. I love the idea of Femme Fatale characters (a dream came true when I got to play one on stage once--I'd kill for another femme fatale role now that I'm older and actually comfortable with myself and in my body), and she is beyond gorgeous and talented in this film. Obviously, the femme fatale ideal doesn't fit this character perfectly, but it fits well enough, and this screenshot was begging for it. Also, the tinytext is lyrics from the Velvet Underground/Nico song Femme Fatale.
