Chihuly...

Edited to add some links of installations that were here when they were at other places.
So, about a year ago there was a Chihuly exhibit here in Kalamazoo. I went three or four times, and took lots of pictures. I'm really bad at actually playing with photos when there's a whole slew of them from one event (over 80 in this case), but I finally got around to it!
The album is here, and here is a select handful of photos:
The Chihuly chandelier that permanently hangs in the Kalamazoo Institute of Art:

The opposite of chandeliers...towers!

There's not a pic of this tower on his site, but they do have a pic of one of the chandeliers that I have on the Photobucket page. It definitely shows how the installments can change from one showing to another because they disassemble everything and redo it for the individual place.
This one took my breath away and broke my heart every time I walked into that room. It looks so different against the black than it does on his website against the snow on a frozen river:

This one was Dan's favorite:

Mille fiore V, 2004 1, 2, 3, 4
The ikebanas were so bizarre and unique:

How amazing is this photo of an outdoor ikebana? http://www.chihuly.com/ikebana/Art/CdGarfield_Img0103B.html
I really liked this one because it reminded me of a blue rose:

The Persian ceilings are so cool...

"Spotted forest"

I can just imagine him saying, "Wouldn't it be cool to do a series of sea creatures attacking cherubs?!?!?"

Another favorite:

So pretty...

Wall of paintings

A lovely piece that was for sale, and part of the lovely Kalamazoo downtown winter background:
