We saw Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" last night. I was really disappointed in comparison to her other movies. It was okay, and I know I'll still own it, but it really wasn't what the trailers promised.

Usually, the cinematography is really phenomenal...it was only so-so. There were a couple of really nice pictures, but nothing really mind-blowing. Also, the music usually matches really well. I didn't mind that she used out-of-era music, because I know that can work well with the *right* songs, too, and it fit with the "teens will be teens regardless of era" idea, but the pieces she used didn't match nearly as well as they could have. Also, there was some nice stuff happening with images of extravagent pastries to complement the ridiculous indulgence of how the court ran, but the sequences just kind of disappeared halfway through the film. Also, Kirsten Dunst is just way too girl-next-door, I thought, to play the main role, though she definitely had some really great moments, too.

The ceiling is fixed now, and the apartment is about as clean as it's going to get. I'm way too exhausted for this having been my day off :-P

I was going to see it last night with my flatmate, but I ran out of time. She said she was disappointed. :/

It's still worth a see, just disappointing for a Sofia Coppola film :-( But...

Actually, I lose and I really wanted that first one to say "indulgence" so now I have to watch the trailers again because I didn't save the base :-P

I'm not expecting great things, but I hope I'll at least get my money's worth out of it this week :)

It's definitely still nice.
