So...slight warning. I completely give away the end of the His Dark Materials trilogy in the first thread of comments. Don't read that first set if you haven't read the books and don't want to know what happens.

Win.

Also especially fantastic:

I like that first one!

We should get together to see the Golden Compass. :)

Yes. And drinks. And cry over Will and Lyra. And Roger falling off that damn cliff in the trailer. How DARE they put that in the trailer?!?!?!?

FYI, the icon is Orpheus being rained on in the Underworld pleading for Eurydice in Metamorphoses. From our production. You are one of few on my flist who can appreciate it

And did I mention cry over Will and Lyra? Because, really...that was SO UNFAIR! Like Rebekah in Cincy said, "He separated them more completely than even DEATH! If they had died, or one of them had died, at least they would have been able to be together as particles! But they have to live full lives! WITHOUT EACH OTHER!"

Terrible terrible terrible. Horrible. Heartbreaking. I still can't get over it and it's been months since I read it.

Read the His Dark Materials trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) by Philip Pullman. I just destroyed the ending for anyone who hasn't read it, though. I cried like a baby. Rebekah said she bawled for three hours and her cousin was ready to kill whatever guy did that to her. He laughed hysterically when he found out it was an author. Philip Pullman=brilliant.

I was also very, very sad at the end of those books! To not only be seperated, but stuck in completely different worlds... that's way off the scale of suck.
