I was talking with
samuraibutterfl over AIM recently, and anthropology came up. I started talking about one of my favourite (and possibly the most challenging I've had) teachers at WMU, Laurie, and a friend of hers from when she went to Yale. I decided to go onto Amazon and actually find the links to the books they've written.
Laurie:

Anne:

This is what I would want to do if I were to pursue cultural anthropology. Not in Japan, which is where they focus, but right here in the big cities of the US/Canada. People and sexuality absolutely fascinates me, and especially the different ways in which it is expressed.
I think the topic is just amazing, and I love pushing limits like they do. I've not read Laurie's book, but I've read pieces of Anne's books and they're just amazing. If this is a topic that fascinates you (regardless of your interest or lack of interest in Japan--I've no special interest in the area) I definitely recommend the books.
