This past week has been absolutely crazy, and I just kinda crashed last night. Monday morning I started training for Admin at CiP (as I'm going to be taking over the current head admin's job once she goes MIT...manager-in-training), and that continued through yesterday morning. Monday through Thursday consisted of being at CiP at 9am, Bennigan's at 11:45am and back at CiP at 4pm (except last night) with a headwait shift on Tuesday night (luckily, I was done only half an hour after close). Last night was also my only night off at CiP through next Wednesday, so Dan and I used it to run some errands and go out for dinner. Our apartment has been freezing lately, so we used the gift card from Alley&Co. to buy an electric heater.

In other news, the Crow's Nest (the restaurant above 4th Coast) was hiring this past weekish, and Dan was hired in. He started bright and early this morning :-) It's nice that he has a job in Kalamazoo, finally. I liked it once he didn't have to go home every weekend for work...plus, this will make his load a little nicer. No commute to have to deal with every weekend just to work.

Anyway...I need to get moving. I have to shower and go pick up something from Julie at Bennigan's, then buy something that I can wear to hostess at CiP tonight (as I have nothing appropriate for their hostess dress code), and then I have to be ready to be at CiP for more admin training at 1/to hostess at 4.

Not really feeling much better, though I slept for over 12 hours. My head is throbbing and it still hurts to move, but I hate just laying in bed doing nothing, and my laptop cords don't reach that far :-( It would be nice to be feeling better so that I could go out and run errands today, but I don't really see that happening :-\

I got some more info about the opening yesterday including my room assignment, a floor plan of the restaurant and a not-useful-in-the-slightest MapQuest map of the area the restaurant is in (well, it would be useful to somebody who didn't know the state, I suppose). It's so bizarre to see the floor plan because it's so different, and yet so similar, to ours.

One week and two days until my flight, and I'm terrified and excited beyond words. I have so much I still need to do before then (mainly things like "I desperately need some new non-work shoes because mine are literally falling apart," "I need a new pair of work shoes before the opening because mine are hideously stained" (because the person who decided we would wear white shoes to work in a restaurant is genius, let me tell you), "I need to attempt to get those grease stains out of my work shirts," "I need to buy luggage ASAP," and "I need to buy certain necessities/toiletries before travelling." I was thrilled beyond words when I saw the schedule for next week (note: our schedules at CiP run Thursday through Wednesday and are posted on Monday). I have Tuesday and Wednesday off, and I know I'll have Thursday off because we're not allowed to work the day before we travel. I specifically requested these days off at Bennigan's so that I might have a little time to get some packing and cleaning done around here, but didn't expect them off at CiP. I will have three full days off before I travel...*insert happy sounds here*

Also, I had my 45-day eval at Bennigan's yesterday, and it went well. I got all Ms (the rating scale is something like R=Role Model (mainly a trainer thing...you only get those when you've been there a while and are up to standards to be a trainer), M=Meets Standards, N=?? (he also explained it can mean "newness" and that most new people get mostly Ns on their first eval or two), I=Needs improvement, and II=Immediate Improvement necessary) and one N (in an area he said just about everybody in the restaurant should probably get an I in, and I got an N simply because he hasn't really paid attention to it with me so he doesn't know where I actually stand :-P), so I'm doing extremely well for a new person. Yay! The N was in the section relating to washing hands every time you switch tasks, etc. I can guarantee I'm at least an M in that one, though :-P I'm beyond obsessive about washing my hands at work, and probably better than even the managers at it...but I really can't complain given the rest of my eval *grins*

I'll stop babbling now. I think I'm going to get a shower and see if I feel okay enough to go buy some new work shoes and some of the stuff I'll need for travel. I'm so good at procrastinating, and I don't want to find myself in Oklahoma and having forgotten some essential thing.

Oh! One more thing, for those who have managed to read this far: I'm thinking about starting a new journal for my traveling training. Should I, or should I just create a filter for it on here? It will include photos, play-by-plays of my days and various other things relating to doing the travelling and the training. I think I should take advantage of my paid account and do a poll here. Note: If I create a new journal for this, it will be Friends Only. I like my job too much to risk it by accidentally posting something Corporate wouldn't like seeing.

[Poll #645485]

Wow...

Yesterday was the longest day ever. I got to Bennigan's at about 11:35 for work (I was scheduled at 11:45) and ended up in the second round of cuts, which didn't happen until three pm. Keep in mind that I was supposed to be at CiP at 4pm, and my availability at Bennigan's says I need to be out of there as close to three as humanly possible (which would have happened were I in that first round of cuts). I ended up in my car at 3:40 (it takes about 15 minutes to get home, and another ten or fifteen to get to CiP...not counting changing and grabbing my CiP stuff) calling John to let him know I was just leaving Bennigan's and was going to be 15 or 20 minutes late. I also headwaited at CiP and didn't get out until 1:30 (because counting up gift cards sold/redeemed slips is a pain in my ass...especially when half the servers don't actually understand how to turn them in properly). I told John we completely need to reteach the servers how to do their bags, because I hate getting a pile of unorganized crap that takes me ten or fifteen minutes to figure out and count/add up.

I did well at both places yesterday, so I can't complain too much, but I was just exhausted. John and I were both in fits of hysterical laughter starting at around 10pm...especially me because of the exhaustion. I'd have to recount money about three times because somebody would say or do something that would set me off again. Especially the phone number prank on Lauren (I was trying to count down one of the bar drawers when this started).

The prank:
Lauren called up wanting to get Stephanie's phone number. John gave her trouble and said he didn't want to look it up, and finally gave her an obviously fake number. She whined, and he gave her some 800 number involving his name, and finally gave her the number to the restaurant. She didn't catch the last one. She calls back IMMEDIATELY, and John puts on this high-pitched, "This isn't Stephanie." and starts cracking up. I don't know what number he gave her next, but she called back about fifteen minutes later to yell at him. He gives her some more obviously fake ones, and finally gives her one of the Reject numbers (because he has one programmed into his phone...no idea why). About ten minutes later, she still hasn't called back, and he's actually feeling kind of guilty because she'd sounded sincerely upset about something when she had last called, so he gives her a call to see if she'd tried the number yet. Sadly, she hadn't :-( Chances are pretty good that she's going to KILL John the next time she sees him, though...lol

And now I've spent too much time babbling on LJ, and I must get ready for work. Only Bennigan's this morning, though. I have tonight off, but it will be spent cleaning the apartment.
