So we're working on the whole "registry" thing even though I'm really not thrilled with the idea of people getting us gifts just because we decided to make the whole thing legal and we want them to come and watch...

Really I think once we set something up (as we inevitably will given that we love wine) it should be more of a wine wish list for all future birthdays/occasions/etc...kind of like an amazon.com wish list (before Amazon started selling things like housewares and set up registries of their own).

I don't remember how I came across this, but I adore it. Of course I finally get the chance to catch up on it just as he decides to take a break before the next part (that's around when I first found it, too...right before a break between the first and second books).

So, with Memorial Day coming up I am put in mind of the Doonesbury strip from Memorial Day 2004 (well, the day before...he runs it on Sundays with the full eight panels). This was the year I had started reading the strip (it ran in the Kalamazoo Gazette which was offered free to all students), and given that it was summer I had subscribed to the strip through email. Starting with Memorial Day that year, and running every one since, he has used his comic strip in a very poignant and fitting way for the holiday. It drew much fire, but I thought it was a beautiful honor to what the holiday stands for.

So, apparently my childhood is coming back, and the New Kids on the Block are going to do a reunion tour. This is hysterical and awesome. I refuse to admit that I liked the New Kids on the Block so much that my dad nearly got me tickets to a concert for one of my birthdays.
